Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Programme Officer (SFI Projects) 9 month Maternity Cover

The Irish Universities Association (IUA) represents, promotes and supports the seven Irish universities in developing sectoral policies and strategies and in supporting collaborative engagement in a number of areas including research.
In this context, the IUA’s MSCA Office, which is supported by the Irish Research Council, hosts the National Contact Point and National Delegate for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions in Ireland.
The IUA, in partnership with Science Foundation Ireland, wishes to appoint a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Programme Officer (SFI Projects) for a 9 month maternity leave contract to commence in mid May 2015. The successful candidate will work specifically with the 12 Centres funded by the Foundation to strengthen their participation in the EU’s Horizon 2020 programme.

Job Specification and Key Deliverables
The MSCA Programme Officer (SFI Projects) will provide a “conception to completion” service for SFI Research Centresi for the entire Marie Skłodowska-Curie process from a researcher initially receiving information about the programme, through to proposal submission, contract negotiation and implementation.
Reporting to the IUA CEO via the IUA European Advisor, MSCA, the Programme Officer (SFI Projects) will:
– Provide scheme-specific training and workshops on the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, the COFUND programme in particular, in a timely manner prior to key deadlines;
– Respond to general queries relating to the Programme;
– Investigate detailed queries relating to Programme in partnership with the MSCA European Advisor in IUA;

– Provide timely advice and analysis to applicants on the outcome of the evaluation process;
– Advise applicants with rejected proposals on their evaluation results and how to proceed with redress or resubmission;
– Assist and advise successful applicants with contract negotiation;
– Advise contractors during the implementation phase of the project;
– Work closely with the EURAXESS Ireland office based in the IUA which provides advice to researchers.

Profile of Candidate

Education & Experience:

– A primary degree and a minimum of one years’ relevant experience in a similar role;
– A proven track record in EU funding opportunity identification, proposal definition and review;

Finally, the role will require a flexible approach in terms of delivery, including a willingness to undertake regular national travel.

Contract Details
The position, which will be based entirely within the Irish Universities Association with appropriate reporting linkages to SFI, is offered on a 9 month maternity leave specified purpose contract, and subject to a period of probation and meeting on-going performance requirements. A competitive salary commensurate with experience will be offered.
